JENSEN BEACH, Fla. — A Florida family is mourning the loss of a 17-year-old whose body was found on Tuesday after he got caught in rough waters during an early morning swim on Monday.

The body of Nick Alincy was located and recovered about five miles from where he was reportedly last seen on Jensen Beach, the Martin County Sheriff's Office wrote in an update on Facebook.

Treasure Coast News reported that the teen had gone to the beach to watch the sunrise with his girlfriend. After taking pictures, Alincy reportedly got into the water twice before getting caught in rough surf and pulled out in the water while swimming.

The teen's family told deputies that he wasn't the strongest swimmer.

“Really this is a needle-in-a-hay-stack type of recovery operation," Chief Deputy John Budensiek said in part on Monday while crews were out searching for Alincy. "Even a good swimmer today could get themselves in trouble."

The newspaper said Alincy was on the Centennial Boys Varsity Soccer team, and Blake Combs, the athletic director for St. Lucie West Centennial High School, said a game the team was scheduled to play Monday was canceled.

“This is a tragedy, this is a drama, this is our reality,” the teen's aunt, Elda Jean, told CBS 12. “This is the worst nightmare. This is a dream that we’re hoping that we will wake up from. This is the kind of pain that you do not wish on your own worst enemy.”
