TAMPA, Fla. — A tropical disturbance is on its way to the Tampa Bay area with a strong likelihood of development into at least a tropical depression. Forecasters expect it will become a tropical storm, in which case it will be named Debby.

The system is currently affecting the western portion of the Caribbean islands. It is expected to move toward Florida's west coast around Sunday morning after passing through the Keys and the Fort Myers area before hitting Tampa.

What's the name of the storm coming to Florida?

As of now, the storm still doesn't have a formal name. The National Hurricane Center has it labeled as Potential Tropical Cyclone Four.

If it develops into a tropical storm, which it is expected to, its name will be Tropical Storm Debby.

You can proactively plan for the upcoming storm by collecting sandbags to place outside of your house in flood-prone areas, like sliding doors.
