Roadways to and from Davis Islands flooded from Hurricane Helene

While access to Tampa General Hospital remains open, drivers are urged to avoid traveling to the area and to stay safe during the storm.

TAMPA, Fla. — The roadways to and from Davis Islands are currently flooded as Hurricane Helene continues to move by the Tampa Bay area.

The Tampa Police Department says while access to Tampa General Hospital remains open, drivers are urged to avoid traveling to the area and to stay safe during the storm.

"We will continue monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as water levels recede," officers stated in the release.

As of the latest advisory, Hurricane Helene remains a Category 4 storm as it is expected to bring damaging hurricane winds and storm surge Thursday evening to the Big Bend region of Florida.

As Hurricane Helene nears the northeast Gulf Coast, it's expected to bring "catastrophic" winds and storm surge to parts of the region, according to the National Hurricane Center.
