Rescue crews battle flooding in Clearwater after Hurricane Milton

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Rescue crews are working tirelessly in Clearwater to save families from rising floodwaters caused by Hurricane Milton.

10 Tampa Bay's Miranda Parnell, reporting live from the Standard Apartments near US 19, showed sheriff’s office teams diligently floating door-to-door to assist residents. Currently, 6,500 soldiers have been deployed across 26 counties to ensure safety and conduct rescues.

Heavy flooding has forced residents to seek help. Local families reported that this apartment complex often floods, leading some to relocate. One family mentioned losing a car due to previous floods.

Our crew on the scene described the situation as many residents wait for assistance, with some seen on their balconies. Emergency responders are making significant progress, but many people still need help.

Approximately 50 rescue units were seen on the main road, showcasing the extensive response from first responders. While water levels remain dangerously high, the Clearwater Police Department reports that crews have rescued at least 37 people, with more than 50 others still awaiting assistance.

Rescue operations are ongoing, and authorities urge residents to stay away from floodwaters.
