TAMPA, Fla. — The Glazer Family Foundation has donated $1 million to help aid recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene left devastating impacts in the Tampa Bay area.
The team announced the family's pledge Saturday morning in an X post. The money will be used to support local nonprofit organizations aiding those most impacted by the hurricane.
"The donation will be allocated to support local agencies involved in relief efforts across Tampa Bay," the team said in the post.
Malcolm Glazer, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner who passed away back in 2014 at the age of 85, was an advocate for the Tampa Bay community during his tenure, according to the team's official website. The Glazer Family Foundation was established back in 1999, which has donated millions to families in need across the Bay area.
The flooding caused by Hurricane Helene's storm surge has been devastating to many throughout the state and specifically in our Tampa Bay community," Malcom's daughter and current team owner Darcie Glazer Kassewitz stated in a news release. "There are many areas throughout our community that will require time and additional resources in order to begin the recovery."
