FLORIDA, USA — SpaceX is preparing its Falcon Heavy rocket for another launch opportunity after a lightning strike hit the tower at Launch Complex 39A on Thursday amid a round of severe thunderstorms.
The company says teams performed "additional checkouts" of the rocket and "all systems are looking good." More storms Friday evening may cause problems, however.
SpaceX said via Twitter, "weather conditions for tonight's launch opportunity are currently at 30% favorable."
The 57-minute launch window is scheduled to open at 7:29 p.m. Friday at Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. SpaceX says Astranis's first MicroGEO satellite and Gravity Space’s GS-1 satellite are aboard this mission, too.
SpaceX has been trying to get liftoff for Falcon Heavy since Wednesday but has had delays due to unfavorable weather.
If the launch doesn't happen, the backup opportunity date has not been released yet.
