HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Craving a Pub Sub while enjoying a day on the water? Thanks to a new store opening in South Florida, Publix customers can ditch their cars and instead park their boats right outside the grocery store.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, a new Publix store had its grand opening in Hollywood Beach. What makes this store unique isn't the fact that it's reportedly a 3-story building but rather what's outside the store — a private boat dock and ramp that leads right to its entrance.
According to a Publix representative, the dock can accommodate between 3 to 4 boats at a time, depending on the size of the vessel.
Customers can leisurely sit dockside, too as they overlook the water.
This latest Publix location in South Florida has reportedly been in the works since 2019.
But the new South Florida location isn't the only Publix store with a boat ramp.
In fact, there's one right here in the Tampa Bay area! The Publix on Treasure Island has had a boat dock for years. However, you won't be able to dock your boat there for a while.
Here's why: The recent hurricanes that blew through the Tampa Bay area destroyed the boat dock. Thankfully for boaters, a store representative says there are plans to rebuild the dock in the near future.
Earlier this year, the Florida-based grocery chain ranked No. 15 out of 100 companies in People Magazine's "Companies that Care in 2024." The supermarket made the list for helping its employees and the communities they live and work in, especially in times of need. Following Hurricane Helene, the supermarket donated $1 million to recovery efforts.
