What's open in Tampa Bay area after Hurricane Milton?

The storm brought widespread power outages to the Tampa Bay area and reports of damage across the region.

TAMPA, Fla. — On Wednesday evening, Hurricane Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm near Siesta Key on Florida's Gulf Coast.

In many areas, residents are still being urged to stay off the roads as clearing operations begin. For those looking to resupply after the storm's passing, here are some options:

Publix

Around 500 Publix stores across Florida are on modified hours due to the impacts of Milton. 

Shoppers should check the interactive map on their website to see when their local store will be open.

Walmart

As of Saturday morning, all of the Walmart locations in the Tampa Bay area have reopened, according to their store status map

Target

All Pinellas County Target locations are listed as open as of Saturday morning.  Shoppers should check the Target website to find their local store's hours

Trader Joe's

Sprouts

Some Sprouts stores in Florida, including several Tampa locations, remain closed Saturday due to the storm; however, shoppers are directed to their website here to see individual store hours.

On Thursday, store hours changed from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. for most stores.

Wawa

A handful of Wawas are listed as open Saturday morning. They include:

  • Tampa: 7408 E. Hillsborough Ave. (limited fuel)
  • Tampa: 2604 US Highway 301 (limited fuel)
  • New Port Richey: 8330 Ridge Road (limited fuel)
  • Holiday: 1929 HS Highway 19 (fuel court closed)
  • Odessa: 12048 SR-54 (fuel court closed)
  • Wesley Chappel: 28225 SR-54 (diesel only)
  • Brooksville: 20075 Cortez Blvd. (limited fuel)

Waffle House

Most Waffle House locations are open Thursday, Oct. 10 and operating on usual 24-hour schedules according to the company website.

The following locations in the region are shown to have reopened as of Saturday morning after previously closing.

  • Treasure Island: 11185 Gulf Blvd.
  • Brooksville: 30481 Cortez Blvd.

ZooTampa

On Saturday, ZooTampa announced power has been restored at its facilities. After doing assessments and quality checks, the zoo intends to reopen to guests on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

"Our thoughts are with our fellow Floridians as together we recover from the impacts of hurricanes Helene and Milton," the zoo said in a brief statement.

Florida Aquarium

The Florida Aquarium said it will reopen Monday, Oct. 14, and resume its normal operating hours. The aquarium said all of its animals are safe and healthy.
