LARGO, Fla. — A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were arrested after they fired shots at a 17-year-old in his backyard in Largo.

Largo Police responded to the shooting after the 17-year-old said he entered his backyard on New Jersey Street after walking home just before 11 p.m. Wednesday when he was confronted by three masked men pointing at least two handguns at him. The suspects fired a total of 12 rounds at the victim, hitting him in the leg. One of the bullets went through the victim's grandmother's trailer and landed in her lap while a second family member exited the home and was also shot at but was not hurt, according to police.

The 17-year-old was hospitalized and identified the 15-year-old as someone he has been having an ongoing feud with. Largo police officers arrested the suspect who admitted to the shooting. Police were able to identify the two other people and learned that one of the guns was stolen from a robbery earlier that night in Clearwater.

The 14-year-old was arrested on Friday and had the stolen gun at the time of his arrest. He also admitted to his involvement in the shooting, police said.

They are both being charged with attempted felony murder and shooting deadly missiles into an occupied dwelling. The 14-year-old is also being charged for armed robbery, coming from the Clearwater Police Department.

Detectives are still investigating.
