16-year-old shot and killed another teenager in Clearwater, police say

The shooting happened at an apartment while the two were "play fighting," according to police.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A 16-year-old has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing another 16-year-old earlier this week in Clearwater, according to police.

On Thursday, authorities said that the teen is facing a manslaughter charge and violation of probation.

The shooting happened on Tuesday afternoon at an apartment on the 1200 block of Engman Street. The teen who was shot, identified by police as Jacques Ford, was taken to Morton Plant Hospital but later died due to his injuries, police explained.

Witnesses told police that the two teens were "play fighting" when one of them picked up a gun that would eventually fire, striking the other teen.

An investigation is ongoing, and detectives said additional charges may be coming.
