CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Clearwater Police officer facing stalking charges after an arrest in Pasco County has resigned his position, the department said. Brian Tejera had been with the Clearwater Police Department since 2007.
Tejera was arrested on Jan. 7 in Pasco County after allegedly sending threatening written and video messages to his girlfriend and her family, the police department explained. Tejera was charged with aggravated stalking.
The police department said Tejera was immediately placed on administrative leave following his arrest and an internal investigation was launched.
"This is a disturbing allegation," Police Chief Eric Gandy said in a previous statement. "We immediately initiated an internal investigation and placed him on administrative leave."
On Thursday, the department announced Tejera had resigned from his position.
