CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Clearwater police officer was arrested and placed on leave following accusations he sent threatening messages to his girlfriend and her family, the department said.
Brian Tejera, who has been with the Clearwater Police Department since 2007, was arrested Sunday in Pasco County, according to a news release.
He faces a charge of aggravated stalking for allegedly sending threatening written and video messages.
"This is a disturbing allegation," Police Chief Eric Gandy said in a statement. "We immediately initiated an internal investigation and placed him on administrative leave."
Details of Tejera's arrest were not immediately available.
