The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is looking for two men accused of starting a fight Sunday amid the chaos at the Tampa Premium Outlets.
According to a Facebook post by the agency, the fire alarm at the Lutz-based mall was activated around 4:30 p.m.
In the moments thereafter, two men reportedly went into a store and started to argue with someone. As the argument escalated, deputies say the person inside the store was punched.
Deputies are now searching for the two men — one was seen wearing a white T-shirt and sunglasses. The other was wearing a light blue T-shirt with neon writing on the front.
Originally, the sheriff's office said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that they received reports of a shooting after the fire alarm. When deputies arrived at the mall, they did not find any evidence that a shooting happened.
"To be clear, no gun was seen during this incident, and PSO has still not found any evidence that a shooting occurred at the Tampa Premium Outlets yesterday," the agency wrote on Facebook.
The sheriff's office says some people suffered minor injuries as shoppers and workers rushed to get outside the mall.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to submit a tip to the Pasco Sheriff’s Crime Tips Line at 1-800-706-2488 and refer to case number 23043453, or online at pascosheriff.com/tips.
