TAMPA, Fla. — Some people were hurt Sunday afternoon at the Tampa Premium Outlets while quickly trying to get out of the area following a reported shooting that turned out to be unfounded, authorities said.
The Pasco Sheriff's Office said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that they received reports of the shooting after a fire alarm was activated at about 4:30 p.m.
When deputies arrived at the mall located in Lutz, they reportedly did not find any evidence that a shooting happened.
The sheriff's office says some people suffered minor injuries as shoppers and workers rushed to get outside the mall.
"The investigation remains ongoing & there will be an increased law enforcement presence in the area as deputies continue to investigate," the social media post reads.
