Tampa police suspect 2 additional gunmen in Ybor City shooting

An online portal soliciting more information has been set up on the FBI's website.

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police suspect two more people appeared to have fired shots amid the deadly Halloween weekend shooting in Ybor City, authorities said.

The department said Tuesday that it is partnering with the FBI to solicit tips. This new page, located at fbi.gov/tampashooting, allows people to submit information, photos and videos.

A few shooters opened fire just before 3 a.m. Sunday near East 7th Avenue and North 17th Street as crowds celebrating Halloween lined the dozens of bars and restaurants in the area, according to Tampa police.

Two people were killed — a 14-year-old and a 20-year-old — and 16 others were hurt, police said. Of the 16 people hurt, 15 suffered gunshot wounds.

Family members earlier identified the 20-year-old as Harrison Boonstoppel.

One of the accused gunmen, 22-year-old Tyrell Phillips, appeared in court Monday on a charge of second-degree murder with a firearm and will remain behind bars until a hearing later this week. During his next appearance on Thursday, a judge will decide whether Phillips will stay in jail prior to trial.

In addition to Phillips, Tampa police said Tuesday that there are two additional suspects in this case.

Tampa police have thanked the public for sending in information about the case and continue to ask people to give them a call at 813-231-6130 or use the tip page.

"We are truly grateful for the support of our community and all the tips they have provided investigators so far," Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement. "We have partnered with the FBI to launch this website to make submitting additional tips easier. We encourage anyone who may have information to go to fbi.gov/tampashooting and submit any photos or videos that could aid in the investigation.

"Even if you are not sure if the tip will be helpful, it may be just the evidence our detectives need."
