TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a former detention deputy from Pinellas County on several additional counts of child pornography.
Trevor Willis, 33, faces nine more charges of child porn following the discovery of such material on a social media site linked to him, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office news release.
The agency said it received a tip from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office on July 1 following his arrest in Pinellas County on multiple child porn charges. He was accused of watching child porn videos on his phone while on duty at the jail while logged on its Wi-Fi network. Willis reportedly resigned as a detention deputy that same day.
He was charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography, 10 counts of transmission of child pornography and two counts of sexual activity involving animals.
Hillsborough County investigators found the additional material, and Willis again was arrested on July 17 on the additional nine counts.
"These vile actions have no place in our community, and the betrayal of trust by someone who swore to protect and serve is deeply disturbing," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "However, I am immensely proud of the collaboration among all the detectives involved.
"Their thorough investigation and teamwork have brought this criminal to justice, showing the integrity and commitment we uphold in serving our community."
