PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A Pinellas County detention deputy was arrested after he watched child pornography videos on his phone while on duty at the jail, according to the sheriff's office.
Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit received information that child pornography was being accessed and shared in the county. They said they were able to trace those videos back to 33-year-old Trevor Willis.
The pornography videos reportedly showed children between the ages of 5 and 15. The sheriff's office also said Willis had videos of a child engaging in sexual activities with a dog.
According to detectives, Willis watched the videos on his personal cellphone while logged onto the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Wi-Fi at work.
Detectives say Willis admitted to accessing and sending the child pornography files. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.
Willis is charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography, 10 counts of transmission of child pornography and two counts of sexual activity involving animals.
Following his arrest, Willis resigned from the sheriff's office at 9:23 a.m. Monday, July 1.
The investigation is ongoing.
