Happy 813 Day. Here's how Tampa is celebrating

The annual holiday based on the county's area code celebrates all things Tampa.

TAMPA, Fla. — Residents can show off their love for Tampa on Tuesday during 813 Day, which is celebrated annually to show appreciation for Hillsborough County. 

The date comes from the area code which correlated with the date August 13 and is used to celebrate all things Tampa. 

Here are some ways the community is celebrating:

  • Taste of 813
    • Hillsborough County is asking residents to submit their recipes to their social media team to be posted.
    • They are also highlighting different recipes that make up the county, specifically highlighting Tacos Las Californias, Crossroad Hot Hicken and Revolution Ice Cream. 
  • 813 Day Benefit
    • Sparkman Wharf will donate $5 up to $1,000 for every photo taken in front of the decorated Sparkman Wharf TAMPA sign posted on social media until Sunday.
  • 813 Day at the Dan
    • Customers can get a free appetizer when they order an entree from 6 to 8:13 p.m.
    • The Dan, 905N. Florida Ave., Tampa
  • Tampa Theatre
    • The theatre is doing a giveaway with tickets to a show and other goodies
    • The giveaway closes on Thursday at 3 p.m.
  • Sparkman Wharf 
    • There is an array of specials at participating restaurants for $8.31
    • Some include an acai bowl from Fit Bowl Co., a Tampa-themed donut at Everglazed Chicken and Donuts and a latte and Florida-themed cookie at Shortwave Coffee
  • Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream
    • Starting at 8:13 p.m., the first 50 people get free ice cream
    • 615 Channelside Drive, Tampa
