Donald Jamison was indicted by a grand jury for the murder of 53-year-old Hernando County mother Claudia Barbosa.

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — A grand jury on Tuesday indicted a 21-year-old man for the murder of a Hernando County mother in a shooting last month.

The shooting happened on the morning of July 30 near the El Sol De Mexico Bar and Grill in Brooksville.

Hernando County deputies arrived to find two people with gunshot wounds, 53-year-old Claudia Barbosa and her 28-year-old son Nicolas Bello. Barbosa died at the scene while Bello suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said the mother and son were making a delivery to the business when the shooting happened.

A 911 caller told deputies that the shooter had driven off in a car.

After obtaining surveillance footage, the sheriff's office issued a statewide broadcast for the suspect's car. A short time later. Florida Highway Patrol troopers spotted a car matching the description and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver was identified as 21-year-old Donald Jamison and taken into custody.

"While in custody, Jamison attempted to escape but was immediately detained and arrested," the state attorney's office wrote.

Jamison has been indicted on one count of premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm, one count of attempted felony murder, two counts of robbery with a firearm and one count of escape from a law enforcement office.

Jamison is said to not be from the Hernando County area and has a Georgia license plate. Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis said there is no indication that there was a relationship between the suspect and the victims.
