Citrus County school officials announce make-up hurricane days

Students will have to go to school on three days they were supposed to have off to meet the state's instructional requirements.

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — Citrus County school officials said they will be making up three days due to the days lost during Hurricane Milton.

Schools will now be in session on the following days:

  • Monday, Oct. 21
  • Monday, Nov. 11
  • Friday, Dec. 20

The day in October was originally scheduled as fall break and Nov. 11 is Veteran's Day, which is a federal holiday.

"Please know that we deeply value our veterans, and we plan to honor them in meaningful ways in our schools on November 11th," a news release read.

Officials said they have to have classes these days to meet the state's instructional hour requirements.
