TAMPA, Fla. — Hurricane Milton brought damaging impacts to the Tampa Bay area after making landfall near Siesta Key on Thursday night.
As communities rebuild and recover from the storm, school districts in the Tampa Bay area have started to announce when they will reopen and plans moving forward.
10 Tampa Bay is continuing to keep track of announcements from various counties. A running list can be found below.
Citrus County Schools
All schools will reopen on Monday, October 14, the school district announced in an update on Friday.
The county wants parents, staff and students to know that while the classrooms at Crystal River Primary School and Crystal River Middle School will "not look the same as when they left school before Helene," they are "safe and ready for students and staff."
There is still "much to do at both schools," the county says, but there are plans in place to get students back to engaging in learning.
Hardee County Schools

Manatee County Schools
District leaders said their hope is for students to return to campuses on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Families will be contacted by 5 p.m. Monday with a final decision.
As of Monday evening, 33 Manatee County schools and worksites are still without power.
