LITHIA, Fla. — A man is facing murder charges in connection to the stabbing death of another man in Hillsborough County.
Deputies first responded just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 to Tanagerlake Road off of Fishhawk Boulevard in Lithia.
They arrived to find 29-year-old Jacob Whitaker dead in the road with several stab wounds to his upper torso.
Investigators say they discovered that Whitaker had gotten into a verbal argument with 60-year-old Mark Calloway that turned physical.
During the argument, Calloway stabbed Whitaker several times, according to the sheriff's office.
Calloway was arrested and charged with second-degree murder with a weapon.
"I can't imagine the pain this senseless loss has brought to the victim's family and loved ones. I sincerely hope this arrest provides them peace of mind and closure as they continue to grieve," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "We will not tolerate this type of senseless violence in our community."
