TAMPA, Fla. — With Thanksgiving right around the corner, many people could be wondering if their mail will be delivered on the holiday – in short, it won't be.

This year, Thanksgiving lands on Thursday, Nov. 23. And with it being a federal holiday, U.S. Postal Service workers will be off for pay and leave purposes.

According to the USPS website, Thanksgiving is one out of 11 holidays in which mail won't be delivered.

Most people can expect to get their mail starting the day after the federal holiday.

USPS won't be the only thing halting service on Thanksgiving.

A lot of stores across the U.S. will be closing their doors for the federal holiday, which means you'll have to be ready just before Thanksgiving or wait until Black Friday.

And with some stores remaining open, most of them will close their doors on Thanksgiving – so make sure to not forget an important ingredient.

Here's a list from both People Magazine and CBS News of stores that will be closed to shoppers on Thursday, Nov. 23:

  • ALDI
  • Best Buy
  • BJ's
  • Costco
  • Home Depot
  • HomeGoods
  • Ikea
  • JCPenny
  • Kohl's
  • Lowe’s
  • Macy’s
  • Marshalls
  • Michaels
  • Nordst
  • Petco/Petsmart
  • Publix
  • Sam’s Club
  • Target
  • Trader Joe’s
  • T.J. Maxx
  • Ulta Beauty
  • Walmart

While these stores will have their doors closed on the holidays, shoppers can expect them to open up the next day just in time for in-person Black Friday deals.
