TAMPA, Fla. — After an impressive showing in the quarterfinals round, Tampa native Troy Meyer returned to the "Jeopardy!" stage on Monday to compete in the semifinals of the 2024 Tournament of Champions.

Fans watched the local music executive largely dominate the game on Wednesday, going into Final "Jeopardy!" with a runaway $38,400. He was the only contestant to get the question right but wagered $0 so as to not risk his lead.

Back on the Alex Trebek Stage for the semifinals, Meyer faced off against attorney Luigi de Guzman and guest services agent Brian Henegar during the episode that aired at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, on 10 Tampa Bay.

Who is Troy Meyer?

We first met Tampa music executive Troy Meyer back in January 2023 when he took home a whopping $214,802 with a five-game Jeopardy! winning streak.

Last year, 10 Tampa Bay's Miguel Octavio sat down with Meyer who called his 'Jeopardy!" appearance a "dream come true."

"It was all just a bit of a blur," Meyer said. "It happens so fast."

And for Meyer, "Jeopardy!" is much more than just "America's Favorite Quiz Show" — it's an important part of his love story.

He met his wife Genevieve Sheehan on a website dedicated to the game show. They kept in touch as friends until he saw her compete on the show in 2009.

"It's sort of the strangest way to like see someone in person for the first time," Meyer said, laughing.

Meyer dedicated his initial "Jeopardy!" experience to his mother, who passed away in 2022. She raised him as a single mother and dreamed of watching him compete.
