TAMPA, Fla. — Who is Troy Meyer? A Tampa native who returned to the "Jeopardy!" stage on Wednesday to compete in the 2024 Tournament of Champions.

We first met the music executive back in January 2023 when he took home a whopping $214,802 with a five-game winning streak.

His impressive performance earned him a flight back to the Alex Trebek Stage to face off against fellow "Jeopardy!" champions. During the episode on Wednesday, March 6, Meyer competed against Deb Bilodeau and Sean McShane.

Last year, 10 Tampa Bay's Miguel Octavio sat down with Meyer who called his 'Jeopardy!" appearance a "dream come true."

"It was all just a bit of a blur," Meyer said. "It happens so fast."

And for Meyer, "Jeopardy!" is much more than just "America's Favorite Quiz Show" — it's an important part of his love story.

He met his wife Genevieve Sheehan on a website dedicated to the game show. They kept in touch as friends until he saw her compete on the show in 2009.

"It's sort of the strangest way to like see someone in person for the first time," Meyer said, laughing.

Their love story was actually featured in The New York Times in 2011.

Meyer dedicated his initial "Jeopardy!" experience to his mother, who passed away in 2022. She raised him as a single mother and dreamed of watching him compete.

Fans cheered on Meyer in the 2024 Tournament of Champions at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, on 10 Tampa Bay.
