ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — This year marks the third consecutive year that Juneteenth is considered a national holiday. Tampa and St. Pete have endless free and family-friendly events to help residents celebrate.
Hillsborough County
- The Tampa Museum of Art will host a free cultural celebration. They will have art-making activities, live music and performances, family portraits, local vendors and other family-friendly programs.

- Roc the Block will host its fourth annual Juneteenth Festival at Raymond James Stadium. The event, which is free to enter, includes vendors, fireworks, food, a kid zone and more.

- TampaWell is hosting a Juneteenth 5k CommUnity Walk/Run, which aims to celebrate freedom, combat Type 2 Diabetes and promote community health, according to the event description. It's meant to commemorate Juneteenth's historical significance while highlighting diabetes prevention. The run is free for everyone.

- While Tampa held its flag-raising ceremony early Friday morning, Hillsborough County will hold its own to commemorate the third year that Juneteenth is a national holiday.

- Saturday Shops is hosting a Freedom Fest featuring live music, raffles and giveaways for free to highlight small businesses in the area.

- Good Stock St. Pete is hosting a Juneteenth Festival to highlight African Americans who are making St. Pete proud, according to its website. The festival supports local entrepreneurs, brings the community together and links shared resources in the city.

- The Phyllis Wheatley Rise to Read Campaign will host its annual Juneteenth Gospel Fest, which is free and open to the public. Live gospel and opera music will be available, and an old-fashioned soul-food picnic will be held.

According to their website, St. Petersburg advises residents wanting to celebrate Juneteenth outside of these events to "support Black-owned businesses, educate yourself on the historical significance, participate in a community event and check out this reading list from your St. Pete Libraries team."
