TAMPA, Fla. — Free food, music and local vendors are at your disposal at the fifth annual Juneteenth flag-raising ceremony and festival hosted by the Tampa Bay Juneteenth Coalition and the city of Tampa.
This will be the first Tampa Juneteenth ceremony Mayor Jane Castor will attend, according to a news release. She'll be joined by Tampa Councilwoman Gwendolyn Henderson and members of the Tampa Bay Juneteenth Coalition.
The event will occur from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the City Center Hanna Avenue Building.
The celebration will feature performances and presentations by the Bay Area Drum Academy & Majorettes, the Blake High School Color Guard, the inaugural Miss Juneteenth USA, Saniya Gay and Miss Juneteenth Tampa, Ada Scott.
"This event not only commemorates a pivotal moment in our history but also celebrates the culture and contributions of the African American community in Tampa," Castor said in a statement. “We are thrilled to celebrate Juneteenth in such a significant way.”
