Tampa Bay music school teaches the next generation of DJs

This summer students can sign up for DJ lessons through the music school and get hands-on training to learn the fundamentals and about the art of DJing.

LUTZ, Fla. — School is out and summer camps across Tampa Bay are underway.

Bach to Rock Music School in Lutz exposes students to the wonders of music through their individual and group lessons in piano, voice, guitar, and DJing, just to name a few.

This summer students can sign up for DJ lessons through the music school and get hands-on training to learn the fundamentals and about the art of DJing. The summer camp is part of the Beat Refinery Program.

“You don’t have to know how to play notes, this is stuff you're familiar with from hearing to music already and connect it with what the mixer and turntables can do," head mixer of the Beat Refinery Program, Paul Cook, said.

Each class session lasts about 30 minutes to an hour. The sessions give kids the opportunity to learn how to mix songs, scratch the turntables and teaches them the importance of music theory.

Working with state of the art DJ workstation, students are guided through their daily lessons with experienced DJ instructors. The goal is to prepare the students to confidently perform their own two to three song mixes.  The school welcomes students of all skill levels to join the DJ classes.

Here is a list of other summer camps and programs in Tampa Bay.
