TAMPA, Florida — A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for the Tampa Bay area, warning of dangerously cold wind chills expected on Thursday morning.
WHEN:
The advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Thursday, affecting the following counties: DeSoto, Hardee, Inland Hillsborough, Inland Manatee, Inland Pasco, Inland Sarasota and Polk.
IMPACT:
Wind chills could drop as low as 34 F, creating conditions that may lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. It’s important to dress warmly and limit exposure to the cold during these early morning hours.
NEED:
- Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
- Check in on elderly family members, friends and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable to the cold.
- Use portable heaters safely and never use generators or grills inside to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
The biggest impact will be Thursday morning with the coldest temperatures near sunrise. The Weather Impact Alert expires at 8 a.m. with the advisory.
