HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday in the Tampa Bay area, with very cold wind chills forecast to reach as low as 34 degrees overnight.
For those who may live in a home without adequate heat or don't have any other accommodations, Hillsborough and Sarasota counties will be opening cold weather shelters on Wednesday night.
However, county officials said they are expecting high demand with limited capacity, so residents who need a warm place to stay are "encouraged to use all resources like friends and family as a first option."
