MIAMI — A waterspout sent debris flying into the air Sunday afternoon as it made landfall in the Florida Keys.
Video taken by Ryan Burke shows the twister off in the distance in Cudjoe Key causing power flashes and throwing up objects at times. The National Weather Service office in Key West warned of a strong squall line approaching the Keys around noon.
While no injuries were reported, authorities confirmed one structure suffered some damage. The weather service sent a survey team to investigate damage reports in the area.
The severe weather was associated with a broad area of low pressure that brought heavy rain at times to much of the Tampa Bay area and the Florida Peninsula over the weekend.
The dreary weather forced NASCAR to postpone the season-opening Daytona 500 until Monday.
