PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — Mother nature made good on her threat of severe weather Thursday night.
Damage reports came in from all over the Tampa Bay area, and the National Weather Service confirmed Friday afternoon a small tornado touched down Thursday in Pinellas County.
According to NWS, the 50-yard wide EF-0 twister hit the ground packing 85 mile-per-hour winds south of Largo and broke apart four miles east of Pinellas Park near the Gandy Bridge.
There were some trees and a telephone knocked down at a nearby mobile home park, but it’s not clear if that was a direct result of the tornado.
The exact time of the touchdown was 10:38 p.m. ET.
Meteorologists say the tornado's path length was about 9.24 miles.
Luckily, nobody was killed. The NWS reports one injury.
The NWS was in the area, conducting site surveys on Friday. You can see photos below from our 10News crew at the scene.
