ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — People living at an apartment complex in St. Petersburg say city officials placed a notice on their doors giving the property owner a week to turn on the power.
Although the power is back on, other repairs are still needed. This comes after a tornado ripped through the area, knocking out the power on Tuesday.
Neighbors like Joseph Bailey are breathing a sigh of relief now that the power is back on.
“Honestly, what I'm looking forward to is being in a bed I’m used to,” Bailey said.
Bailey is one of four renters who lost electricity during the storm.
“The city told me they [put up notices at the apartment to] bring pressure on the owner to fix the apartment complex,” Bailey said.
If the owner had not restored power, they would have been fined $300 for each unit.
"Like most landlords, this is what they think of, not the people that are in the apartments,” Bailey said.
Bailey is looking forward to a relaxing weekend, moving back into his place. But, others like Tosha Mitchell are busy cleaning.
"I have water damage because after the roof came off, that's what came in," Mitchell said.
Scars from Tuesday’s tornado are still visible. Mitchell said the tarp helps, but it's just putting a bandaid on the problem.
“Mildew is going to come eventually if they don't pull that stuff out,” Mitchell said.
Neighbors said an inspector told them it could take up to three weeks to get a new roof installed.
10 Tampa Bay reached out to Time Square Properties asking when can residents expect it to be fixed but have not yet heard back.
