ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Sunshine Skyway Bridge has reopened following powerful winds and a strong line of storms rolling through Tampa Bay.
The Florida Highway Patrol had said it would close the bridge connecting Pinellas and Manatee counties if sustained winds reached at least 40 miles per hour.
Tampa Bay and parts of Georgia were also placed under a tornado watch until 4 p.m. Friday.
Florida's Gulf Coast will likely see the tail end of a multi-day severe weather event with all forms of bumpy weather possible, including tornadoes.
