ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The long weekend forecast is looking about as good as you could ask for this time of year! No tropical systems moving towards us, with lower afternoon rain chances and highs in the lower 90s.
Here's a look at your Labor Day weekend forecast around the Tampa Bay area.
Beach and boating:
Thinking about heading out on the water or to the beach? Water temperatures are in the upper 80s. Here's the latest day-by-day forecast.
Saturday:
- Wind: E/SE 5-10 knots
- Seas: 2 feet
- Waters: Light chop
Sunday:
- Wind: E 5-10 knots
- Seas: 2 feet
- Waters: Light chop
Monday:

Overall it's a great weekend for boating! A breeze from the east will keep the waters relatively flat near the coast. Just watch out for a morning shower or storm over the Gulf and an early afternoon pop-up storm near the coast. Storm activity will mainly be inland during the afternoon working back towards the coast late in the evening.
Rain chances:
Great news! Rain chances and coverage will be dropping throughout the weekend. Some drier air will be mixing into the atmosphere keeping rain chances around 60% to start the weekend falling to 40% by Labor day.
With the wind flowing out of the east rain chances will develop inland and move towards the coast late in the day. That will keep most of the day dry across coastal areas until the evening.
Temperatures:
No major change in our temperatures over the next few days. Lower 90s will be the most common with a few mid-90s in some areas. The average high is 91 degrees so it will be a touch above average.
