Police officers rescue dog left stranded outside during dangerous winter weather

Officers were responding to a report of a person who asked for help with a dog that wouldn't leave them alone after being outside for several hours.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is reminding Hoosiers to keep their pets safe as dangerous wind chills reach below -20 degrees in central Indiana.

IMPD officers responded to the 2900 block of South Pennsylvania Street, near East Troy Avenue, early Sunday morning on a report of a person who asked for help with a dog that wouldn't leave them alone after being outside for a few hours.

Officers were able to get the dog into the warmth of their vehicle and transported her to Indianapolis Animal Care Services.

"She was a friendly girl," IMPD posted on Facebook.
