TAMPA, Fla. — As Hurricane Milton approaches Florida so soon after Helene hit the area, some are asking how much longer this hurricane season will last.
Well, good news and bad news, there is still more than a month until hurricane season is completely over, but we're almost through the peak of the season.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, hurricane season begins June 1 and runs through Nov. 30. But the peak of that season, when hurricanes are most likely to occur, is from Sept. 10 through about the middle of October. So, there's just about one more week until the season is past its peak.
After the mid-October peak, the number of storms will drop significantly.
