What hurricane watches and warnings are issued for the Tampa Bay area?

The region is bracing for another storm as cleanup continues from Hurricane Helene impacts.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Hurricane Milton is a major, Category 3 storm and its track is aiming for Florida's Gulf Coast, which includes the Tampa Bay area. 

Ahead of the storm, local, county and state leaders are making preparations to keep people safe. This includes school closures, evacuations and debris cleanup. The region is still recovering from the impacts of Hurricane Helene. 

Milton's anticipated landfall along Florida's west coast has the National Hurricane Center issuing watches and warnings. 

Here are the latest watches and warnings issued for the Tampa Bay area ahead of Hurricane Milton. This story will be updated with the most up-to-date information available.

Hurricane watch issued for the following: 

  • Florida Gulf coast from Chokoloskee to the mouth of the Suwanee River, including Tampa Bay

Hurricane warning issued for the following:

Storm surge watch issued for the following: 

  • Florida Gulf coast from Flamingo northward to the mouth of the Suwannee River, including Charlotte Harbor and Tampa Bay

Tropical storm watch issued for the following: 

  • Florida Gulf coast from Flamingo to south of Chokoloskee 
  • Florida Gulf coast north of the mouth of the Suwanee River to Indian Pass
  • Lower, Middle, and Upper Florida Keys, including Florida Bay

Tropical storm warning issued for the following:
