Port Tampa Bay reopens shipping channels after Hurricane Helene

TAMPA, Fla. — Port Tampa Bay has officially resumed vessel operations and has reopened its shipping channels after having to shut down due to Hurricane Helene.

Vessel operations and shipping channels were reopened with a 28-foot depth restriction, officials said in a news release.

"Our hope is that the port's shipping channels will be functional at their full depths shortly," officials stated. "Port staff fully assessed the docks, wharfs, and terminals for safety. Commercial vessel traffic is again being queued for a return to full operations at the port, meaning we are open for business."

There will be changes to the following cruise schedules:

  • Carnival Paradise
  • Royal Caribbean Serenade of the Seas
  • Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas
  • Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas
  •  Margaritaville at Sea Islander
