ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- With mandatory evacuations in effect in advance of Hurricane Irma, the Palms of Pasadena Hospital in Saint Petersburg is relocating all of its patients Friday morning.

Most of those patients are being moved to Saint Petersburg General Hospital. After all 67 patients are moved, the facility will be closed until further notice.

Marketing director Judy Goetz expressed confidence in the hospital's evacuation plans, and said crews are working closely with emergency management officials to coordinate smooth transfers.

Palms of Pasadena is located right on the Boca Ciega Bay close to the Gulf of Mexico, and could be at risk for serious flooding if the hurricane causes storm surge in the area. The hospital evacuated as part of an order from Pinellas County for those in Evacuation Zone A to leave the area.

Hospital officials have contacted family members to make them aware of the transfers. Loved ones can get more information through the patient unification line at 844-674-7431.
