TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. — "Heartbreaking scenes are everywhere on Treasure Island," a post from the city's Facebook page said.
The damage to the area is severe. Power lines dangle in front of homes, trees are uprooted and several buildings have lost their roofs.
Still, the city says there is much to be thankful for.
"We are deeply grateful to the residents who heeded the evacuation warnings ahead of Hurricane Milton. Seeing the destruction now, it's clear that those decisions saved lives," city leaders shared.
They posted a number of photos showing the widespread damage across the city.
An entire light pole sits upon piles of debris kicked up from the winds of the storm. In one image, a tree is split down the middle.
There are both businesses and homes with furniture and more outside in dumpsters as they try to recover from two storms ravaging the area.

City of Treasure Island shows damage from Hurricane Milton
The city is mobilizing all available resources for cleanup efforts. Leaders say this will be a long and challenging process, as resources are stretched thin across Florida’s west coast, where widespread damage from hurricanes Helene and Milton has occurred.
The city will work closely with county, state and federal agencies to establish a debris removal and recovery timeline, but asks for patience in this long recovery process.
