TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Electric said their crews have restored power for almost all customers following Hurricane Milton.

Officials said as of Wednesday morning, 97% of customers have power and 95% of customers impacted by the storm have had their service restored, according to a news release.

“Our dedicated team is working tirelessly to address the challenging outages in areas with severe damage during these final days of restoration,” said Archie Collins, president and CEO of Tampa Electric in the release.

He stressed crews will work around the clock to make sure the remaining customers in areas with more complex or localized damage get their outages fixed.

Milton left millions throughout the Tampa Bay region in the dark after making landfall as a Category 3 storm. TECO's system experienced nearly 600,000 outages, according to a prior release.

The outages were mainly caused by uprooted trees and storm debris that knocked down power lines and poles. Flooding also further contributed to the damage.

Officials said more than 6,000 line workers, tree trimmers and other personnel have been working in overlapping 16-hour shifts to restore power.

There are 40,098 people without power, according to the TECO outage map.
