TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay area is preparing to feel the impacts of Hurricane Milton, which is set to make landfall by midweek.
In preparation for the incoming tropical weather, local school districts have announced some closures and cancellations.
Here's a running list of cancellations for Tampa Bay area classes and after-school activities.
Citrus County Schools
Schools will be closed through Friday, Oct. 11. All extracurricular activities are also canceled for the rest of the week.
Hardee County Schools
Hardee County Schools will be closed through Friday, Oct. 11 due to Hurricane Milton.
Hernando County Schools
All Hernando schools and district offices will be closed Tuesday through Friday. All activities and events through Friday are also canceled.
Hillsborough County
Hillsborough County Public Schools will be closed through Friday due to Hurricane Milton. That also includes all extracurricular activities, athletics and HOST, according to the school district.
Pasco County
Officials announced that all schools and district offices will be closed Monday through Friday as a precaution due to Milton.
All extracurricular activities, athletic events, and after-school programs are also canceled for these days.
Pinellas County Schools
All schools and offices will be closed from Monday through Wednesday. All sports and school activities will be canceled, according to an X post.
Polk County Schools
Polk County Public Schools will be closed through Friday, Oct. 11.
Manatee County Schools
Manatee County schools will be closed from Monday, Oct. 7 through Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Sarasota County Schools
Schools will be closed through Friday, Oct. 11.
