Overturned vehicles blocking portion of Polk Parkway ahead of Hurricane Milton

Also, two roads in Polk County are now impassable due to flooding, according to the Sheriff's Office.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Flooding ahead of Hurricane Milton's landfall in Florida is already causing crashes and road closures in Polk County.

An overturned camper and pickup truck are currently blocking two eastbound lanes on the Polk Parkway, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash reportedly occurred near Mile Marker 17 and no injuries have been reported.

Meanwhile, flooding in the area ahead of Milton has made two streets in Polk County impassable. The Polk County Sheriff's Office says Reynolds Road is flooded at Maine Avenue. in Lakeland while 42nd Street NW at Avenue Q NW is also flooded in Winter Haven.

"Please avoid these areas, and do not attempt to drive through flooded streets," deputies said in a news release.

These warnings aren't only for Polk County, as weather conditions across the Tampa Bay area will continue to deteriorate as Milton nears landfall.
