Hurricane Milton causes over $350 million in property damage in Manatee County, officials say

County officials provided figures on residential and commercial property damages based on an initial assessment.

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Hurricane Milton brought over $350 million worth of residential and commercial property damages in Manatee County, officials confirmed in a statement.

County officials provided the following figures based on an initial assessment:

Residential Properties:

  • Destroyed — 70
  • Major Damage — 3,480
  • Minor Damage — 2,760
  • Affected — 5,610 
  • Total dollar loss: $323,268,713

Commercial Properties:

  • Destroyed — 2
  • Major Damage — 223
  • Minor Damage — 78
  • Affected — 193
  • Total dollar loss: $28,143,776

According to a press release from the county, additional haulers and trucks have been actively removing debris left behind by Milton. 

County lift station crews have also been working to ensure the continuous flow of wastewater to treatment facilities. Officials said those workers have transported pumps, generators and other equipment to make sure lift stations return to normal operations as quickly as possible.

A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) has been established at GT Bray Park gymnasium, located off of 33rd Avenue Drive West in Bradenton. The center will be operating from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the county.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) has also established a Business Recovery Center (BRC) at the Rocky Bluff Branch Library, located off of US-301 in Ellenton. The center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the county.
