HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — More than five dozen Hillsborough County cats were flown to a different state as Florida continues to recover from Hurricane Milton.

Sixty-three cats from the county's Pet Resource center made their way to an American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) shelter in Pennsylvania, Hillsborough County officials shared via social media on Saturday.

The ASPCA shelter in Pennsylvania will care for the cats while the Hillsborough County community recovers from Milton, the post reads.

Milton left a path of destruction as it passed through Florida after making landfall as a Category 3 storm on Wednesday evening. In the aftermath of Milton, members of the Hillsborough County communities are dealing with damages, flooding and power outages, among other things.
