TAMPA, Fla. — As part of Hurricane Milton recovery efforts, the state is partnering with ride-sharing services to provide residents in mandatory evacuation zones free rides home from local shelters.

To get a ride with Uber, residents should open the Uber app, tap account on the bottom right and tap wallet. Use the promo code MILTONRELIEF1.

On Lyft, riders should use the code MILTONRELIEF24 for two rides up to $25 to and from state-approved shelters. The service activated the Lyft Up Disaster Response Program to provide free and discounted rides to help those in affected areas, according to the news release by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Ahead of the storm, the Florida Division of Emergency Management also partnered with the apps to provide free rides to Floridians to shelters.
