Florida feeling strong impacts as Hurricane Milton makes landfall | Live updates

TAMPA, Fla. — Hurricane Milton has officially made landfall near Siesta Key in Sarasota County.

The Category 3 hurricane is bringing life-threatening storm surge, damaging winds, and flooding rains across portions of central and southwest Florida.

Right now, the hurricane is moving east-northeast at 15 miles per hour and is packing maximum sustained winds at 120 mph.

As the storm rages on through Florida's west coast as it makes its way across the state, 10 Tampa Bay is tracking all of the latest updates and monitoring social media as the storm impacts the Tampa area.

9:43 p.m. | A flash flood emergency is in effect for parts of Pinellas, Manatee and Hillsborough counties. Over 16 inches of rain has been reported. This has been a 1 in 500-year flood return interval.
