Power out? Here's when Duke Energy says it should be back

Most customers across a dozen Florida counties should have power restored by the end of the weekend, Duke Energy estimates.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Duke Energy announced its estimated times of power restoration for people impacted by Hurricane Milton.

As of Friday at 3:45 p.m., Duke Energy said in a press release that the majority of customers in the following counties should have their power restored by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday:

  • Brevard
  • Citrus
  • Hernando
  • Highlands
  • Lake
  • Marion
  • Orange
  • Osceola
  • Polk
  • Seminole
  • Sumter
  • Volusia

Pasco and Pinellas Counties should have power restored by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday.

“We want to alleviate our customers’ concerns and reassure them that they’ll have their power back on within days – not weeks,” Todd Fountain, Duke Energy Florida storm director, said in a statement. “We thank our team for their hard work and commitment to meeting these estimated times of restoration, our local officials and first responders for their support and our customers for their continued patience.”

Duke Energy said that 16,000 resources have been deployed and crews are working throughout the night to restore power for those who have lost it during Milton's impacts.

Some customers may have their power restored sooner than the previously mentioned estimated times of restoration.

If you cannot get power because of damage to your property's meter base, breaker panel or electrical wiring, Duke recommends contacting your local municipality for guidance.

"Inspections may be required after repairs are complete," the company said.

As of 1:30 p.m. Friday, Duke Energy was reporting 792,765 customers without power in Florida. You can stay on top of county-by-county outages of outages here.
