TAMPA, Fla. — Duke Energy has restored power to more than 95% of customers in a dozen counties impacted by Hurricane Milton, the company said in a press release.
That number includes customers in Brevard, Citrus, Hernando, Highlands, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia counties.
The company reports the total number of storm-related outages has decreased from over 1 million to 105,000 as of 9 a.m. Monday, meeting and, at times, exceeding the estimated time of restoration.
“We recognize just how important timely power restoration is to our customers – not only so they can live their day-to-day lives, but also so they can begin the recovery process,” Todd Fountain, Duke Energy Florida storm director said in a statement.
“While we’re proud of the significant progress we’ve made so far, we remain committed to accomplishing our goal of getting the lights back on for all customers who are capable of receiving power by the end of the day tomorrow,” he continued.
Customers in Pinellas and Pasco counties can expect power to be restored by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday. Households that experienced extensive damage may see extended power outages.
